A wanted for 16 years deserter was identified with PAPILLON AFIS
September 20, 2004, a conscript voluntarily left the tank training area in Transbaikalia. Persistent searches yielded no results. But the criminal case was resumed in 2020.
A man’s body was found in Chita. The hostess of the house with the find assured that was her common-law husband, but all the documents confirming his identity were burned in a fire. The body was fingerprinted and checked against the PAPILLON AFIS database. The prints of the deceased matched the prints of the wanted soldier. The forensic examination officially confirmed the identity between the deceased and the wanted deserter.
