PAPILLON helps to unravel the cunning plan of the killer

The alleged killer was identified against the PAPILLON AFIS database and detained on the same day

On March 12, 2013, a burnt corpse of a man who was identified as a criminal accused of rape was found in the Khabarovsk Territory. Relatives identified the corpse by his clothes, there were also documents proving his name and other personal belongings nearby, and a ring belonging to the dead was worn on its finger.

To prove its identity, the investigators decided to fingerprint the dead. The search of the PAPILLON AFIS database found a match with the fingerprints of a 24-year-old man who was a friend of the accused of rape. On the same day, a criminal who was previously accused of rape was detained on suspicion of this murder. During the interrogation, he confessed to the murder, explaining that he did not want to serve a sentence for the rape he had previously committed and decided to fake his own death.
