Constantly exploring the possibilities of using other, fundamentally new ways of imaging of papillary patterns, we have achieved some success and today we present a prototype of a 3D fingerprint scanner.

Our new 3D scanner is designed for high-quality imaging of a fingerprint pattern with a resolution of 500 and 1000 ppi and possesses a number of advantages over standard 2D models, in particular:

Non-contact method of scanning, which is very important in view of the mentality in a number of countries, and also provides hygiene of the scanning procedure
No surface that needs special maintenance (no need to clean or to replace silicone membranes)
Larger pattern areas are captured, thereby providing higher search accuracies

We believe this achievement can become a significant step in improving the quality of biometric identification, and soon the 3D technology will oust the contact 2D method of fingerprint scanning and gain a broad application in various biometric systems to meet civil and law enforcement identification demands.
